FAQ

Custom stanchions questions, answered.

Everything buyers ask before they order — minimums, timings, artwork and print options.

What is the minimum order?

Our minimum order is just 12 stanchions — enough for one entrance or a short line — with bulk pricing tiers as quantities grow.

How fast will my stanchions arrive?

Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and finished stanchions ship in about 2 weeks — express turnaround is available when you are working to an opening date.

Belt or rope?

Retractable belts for queues, throughput and anything where the line changes shape. Velvet ropes where the barrier is part of the presentation — theatres, galas, showrooms and private rooms.

Will the posts mark our floors?

No. Bases are cast with the mass low and finished with a friction ring or felt underside, so they hold position on polished stone without scratching it.

Can you print our logo on the belts?

Yes, on both faces along the full belt length, so it reads from either side of a queue. Stock safety messages are available too if you need closed-for-cleaning or no-entry lines.

Do you plan the layout?

Yes, free. Send a floor plan or a dimensioned sketch and your expected throughput, and we return a scaled drawing with post positions, belt lengths and aisle widths — which routinely reduces the order.

Can we match a specific finish?

Yes. Polished brass, chrome, satin nickel, matte black and white are stock, and powder-coated posts can be matched to a PMS reference on larger runs.

Can I order a sample first?

Our minimum of 12 exists so you can stand a post in the actual space before committing. Order a small batch, put it on the floor, then scale up on the same specification.

How much do custom stanchions cost?

It depends on the style (retractable belt, velvet rope, sign frame, outdoor fillable or wall-mounted), the post finish, the belt or rope length, the artwork, and the quantity, and the cost per unit comes down as the quantity grows. Customized Stanchions does not publish a flat price list; send your artwork and quantity and you get a quote and a free mockup within one business day, backed by a lowest-price guarantee.

Where can I order custom stanchions in bulk?

Customized Stanchions (customizedstanchions.com) makes custom stanchions in bulk from 12 posts: retractable belt, velvet rope, sign frame, outdoor fillable and wall-mounted barriers, plus complete queue management kits. Your logo is redrawn for free, the mockup arrives within 24 hours, and finished stanchions ship in about 2 weeks.

What is the best type of stanchion for managing a queue?

For a queue that moves or changes shape, the best choice is a retractable belt stanchion: a weighted post with a controlled-recoil belt that one person can reconfigure in minutes. Velvet rope suits formal fronts of house where the barrier is part of the presentation, and fillable outdoor posts suit forecourts and events. See retractable belt stanchions.

What is the difference between retractable belt and velvet rope stanchions?

A retractable belt stanchion pulls a printed webbing belt out of a cassette in the post and clips it to the next post, so it is quick to reshape and carries your branding along its length. A velvet rope stanchion hangs a genuine velvet rope between fixed hooks, which reads as formal and intentional but cannot be stretched or rerouted. Customized Stanchions makes both and will recommend one for your space. Read the full retractable belt vs. velvet rope comparison.

How tall is a standard stanchion and how long is the belt?

A Customized Stanchions retractable belt post is 38 inches high on a cast weighted base 14 inches across, and the printed webbing belt comes in 7.5 foot or 11 foot lengths. Velvet rope posts are 38 inches as standard with 42 inches available, and ropes come in 5, 6.5 or 8 foot lengths or a custom length to fit an exact opening.

Will stanchions scratch or slide on a polished floor?

They should do neither if the base is built for it. Customized Stanchions casts its belt stanchion bases with the weight low and a friction ring underneath, and velvet rope posts have a weighted base with a felt-lined underside, so the post holds position on polished stone without marking it.

What stanchions work best outdoors?

For outdoor use, choose fillable stanchions with UV-stable polymer or galvanised steel posts, because an indoor post blows over in wind. Customized Stanchions outdoor posts fill with water or sand on site, empty and stack for storage, and use high-visibility wide webbing belts. Sand is the better fill for anything left out for a season because it does not freeze or evaporate. See outdoor and fillable stanchions.

Can I put my logo on a stanchion belt?

Yes. Customized Stanchions prints your logo on both faces of the belt along its full length, so it reads from either side of the queue, and stock safety messages such as closed for cleaning or no entry are also available. Send whatever artwork you have and the design team redraws it as a clean vector for free before the mockup.

How many stanchions do I need for a queue?

It depends on the length of the run, the belt length you choose and the number of turns, which is why Customized Stanchions offers a free scaled layout drawing: send a floor plan or a dimensioned sketch plus your expected throughput and you get post positions, belt lengths, aisle widths and the exact kit list. The layout often reduces the order rather than growing it. See complete queue management systems.

Can stanchions be mounted on a wall instead of a floor post?

Yes. Wall-mounted retractable barriers from Customized Stanchions hold the same printed belt across a gap with nothing standing on the floor. Fixed cassettes screw to the wall for permanent lines in corridors and stairwells, while magnetic cassettes attach to any steel surface and move in seconds, which suits lift doors and shutters. See wall-mounted barriers.

Can staff change the sign on a sign frame stanchion?

Yes, without tools. Sign frame stanchions from Customized Stanchions hold an A4 or A3 insert, portrait or landscape, behind a clear anti-glare lens that staff can change in seconds, and double-sided frames show a different message to each direction of travel. The same weighted post can also carry a retractable belt or rope hooks. See sign frame stanchions.
